It’s summertime, which means it’s time for family vacations. This summer, consider a camping trip. Here are RV friendly national parks for the family:
If you don’t want to go to a crowded national park this summer, pick Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota. This hidden gem is home to wildlife like elk and bison. What really makes this park special though is the complex cave system beneath the park grounds. These caves are open for the public to explore, providing your children with the opportunity to learn about cave systems and make memories they’ll never forget.
Great Sand Dunes National Park is one of the most kids national parks you’ll come across. This southern Colorado park has a giant playground for kids, plus sand sleds at Kristi Mountain Sports in Alamosa. Great Sand Dunes National Park only has one campground though, so make sure to book your reservation in advance. If you can’t snag a spot, try the Oasis Campground which is just outside of the park.
Yet another hidden gem in Olympic National Park in Washington state’s Olympic Peninsula. These RV-friendly national parks are home to rainforests, lakes, beaches, and snow-capped mountains. There are kid-friendly beaches and canoeing available, as well as the Black Ball Ferry that travels to Victoria, Canada.
Everybody knows Yosemite National Park. If you haven’t been there yet, bring your family along to see why this park is one of the most popular in the country. Yosemite has everything from stunning granite domes to breathtaking waterfalls, to giant trees and glistening lakes. Your kids can swim, play, and explore at Yosemite, just be sure you book your reservation far in advance.
